ÓU students are involved in professional practice at foreign partners annually; students are required and encouraged to participate in active research and design in the project laboratories and to develop their abilities to do independent research.


Our Architecture MSc is especially for bachelor graduates who want to advance their personal and professional development in the field of architectural design.

The aim of the training is to prepare students for being able to apply their complex knowledge in the fields of environmental development in general, and architecture in particular. Significant emphasis is laid on theoretical foundations and on design training, respectively, at a high standard. Creative and technical fields are well balanced, with developing various skills in visual arts and engineering.

The various disciplines and professional subjects the course comprises are the development of creative skills, cultural studies, social sciences, technical, economic, legal and auxiliary subjects.

Mandatory subjects: Complex Design, Cultural History, Generative Design, Applied Studies, Community and Urban Planning, Complex Specialization in Architecture, Environmental Design, Interior Design, and Form and Design.

Actually elective subjects (min 8 ECTS): Design for Accessibility, Architecture Theory, Research Methodology and Environmental Psychology.

The academic staff of the Faculty have proven expertise in Central-Eastern European Countries, as well as inside and outside the European region. This offers our candidates the possibility to discuss and to initiate programs and projects in their respective native country.

possesses deeper than the average knowledge and skills in the following fields: architectural aesthetics, interior design, housing, community building design, design of special technology buildings, architectural theory, heritage conservation, industrial design, environmental design, building comfort, barrier free design, urban sociology, environmental psychology, and safety and security by architecture and town planning

Students studying at the urban design and chief planner/architect specialization:
possesses deeper than the average knowledge and skills in the following fields: urban planning, landscape architecture, housing, community building design, urban sociology, environmental psychology, urban infrastructure, real estate development, project management, building law and administration, energy management of buildings, barrier free design, architectural ecology, IT for architects, fire protection, operation of buildings and towns, and safety and security by architecture and town planning

Main fields of studies:
building design, design methodology, history of architecture and cities, urban planning,
statutory development control, heritage conservation, architectural theory, design of supporting structures, design of building structures, building services, building technologies, building physics and energy efficiency, environmental conscious design, fire protection, architectural presentation, colour dynamics, CAD, BIM, building materials, complex design project)
